STEP 6
๐ฌ Telling us why something isn't a fit
WHEN YOU THUMBS-DOWN A ROW, THE REASON YOU PICK TEACHES THE MATCHER WHAT TO AVOID. THE SEVEN THUMBS-DOWN REASONS AND HOW EACH SHAPES FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES.

“Bad fit” can mean six completely different things. A row can fail because the source site is low quality, or because you already have that link, or because the dead link wasn’t actually dead. A bare thumbs-down can’t tell those apart. The reason picker can.
When you click ๐, a short menu pops up: Why isn’t this a fit? Pick the closest reason. The model uses your choice to suppress different things in future picks.
- ๐งฑ Quality issues with the site or page ๐ the source domain or page is low quality. Future picks deprioritize similar sites.
- ๐ Source already links to my site ๐ they’re already linking to you, just not from this page. Future picks avoid sources you already have a relationship with.
- ๐ช A different page of mine would fit better ๐ the topic is right, the wrong page of yours was matched. The model tries other pages of yours next time.
- โ The dead link isn’t actually broken ๐ false positive on the destination. Removed from your queue and re-checked.
- โ๏ธ Source competes with me ๐ the site is a direct competitor. Future picks avoid that domain.
- ๐ซ Not relevant ๐ the topical match was off. The matcher recalibrates what counts as on-topic for your site.
- ๐ Other ๐ use this when none of the above fits. Counts as a generic negative signal without a specific reason.
You can change the reason later by clicking ๐ again on the same row.
Tips ๐ก
- ๐ฏ The more specific your reason, the faster the shortlist tightens. “Quality issues” and “Source competes with me” in particular have a big effect on which domains appear next.
- ๐ Picking “A different page of mine would fit better” a lot is a signal to revisit your high-Overall pages in Content Analysis and confirm they cover the topics you actually want pitched.
- ๐งน “The dead link isn’t actually broken” is rare but worth catching. We re-verify on your behalf so other users don’t see the same false positive.
